Toyota Announces Plan to Reduce Emissions by 18%
Toyota has announced that the company is aiming to cut carbon dioxide emissions by at least 18% across all of its vehicles with new powertrains, including improved engines and transmissions.
The new units target the 2-liter engine class and will launch this spring. By 2023, Toyota aims to have them in 80% of their vehicles. The more thermally efficient engines are geared towards stricter emissions regulations.
These powertrains will include manual and continuously variable transmissions, 2-liter hybrids, and four-wheel-drive vehicles. In using the TNGA framework, the automaker reduces costs and improves production efficiency.
Starting in 2017, under 20% of Toyota’s sales were of vehicles with engines and other core parts using TNGA. So although Toyota is expected to produce approximately 11 vehicles in 2023, reaching the 80% goal by 2023 may prove to be challenging.
Does Your Car Need a New Engine?
While new owners of Toyota vehicles over the next few years will have the opportunity to benefit from these new powertrains, those who already own a Toyota or other Japanese vehicle may not be able to experience these benefits right away. So what should you do if your vehicle needs a new engine?
The most important thing to do is find a reputable used Japanese engines and transmissions seller. There may be plenty of used Japanese engines for sale, but it’s important to find a company that puts quality over quantity. When it comes to buying used engines, it’s important that you choose a seller who understands and follows the proper rebuilding process to ensure you’re getting the best quality engine possible.
It’s important to thoroughly discuss your engine needs with the used Japanese engines and transmissions seller before making a purchase. In doing this, you can ensure you fully understand the quality of the engine you’re buying. A few things you need to remember to talk to the used Japanese engines and transmissions seller about may include:
- Proof you’re buying the right engine for your vehicle
- Confirmation of any extra parts that come with the engine
- Paperwork proving the rebuilt engine has met necessary conditions
- List of engine mileage, current condition, etc.
- Conditions of the warranty on the engine
Overall, it’s important to take your time when looking for used Japanese engines. Buying a used engine can save significant amounts of money, time, and be better for the environment. But it’s important to work with a seller who cares about the quality of their parts.
