Schreyer’s Dream Car comes out as Kia’s Stinger

July 11, 2017

Peter Schreyer is another name for exquisite, mind-boggling automotive designs. If you haven’t heard the name, this will give you an idea of his creative genius: Peter designed the infamous Audi TT coupe. It was back in 2006 when Peter was hired by Kia. Peter’s dream of designing his very own sports car was already out in the open, and the Korean automaker knew that.

The Kia Move

Through the years, it had become obvious that Schreyer’s sports car would hit the streets sooner or later. It was only a matter of time before it would. Peter also acquired great fame at Kia, and it wasn’t long before he was made the VP of Hyundai Motors as well as the Chief Design Officer—which was obvious for a man with such great designing skills.

Kia knew the talent behind the man and wanted to make the most of it. They offered him a chance to build his dream car under Kia—a move that the Korean automaker seems to have planned well before hiring Peter. Peter accepted the offer and the popular ‘Schreyer’s sports car’ came into life as the Kia Stinger.

Peter Schreyer’s View

In an interview, Peter revealed that he had long had the dream of building a sports car, and the opportunity at Kia opened the right doors for him at just the right time. With detailed discussions and collaborations with the design head of Kia in Europe, the Korean automaker rolled out its first-ever rear-wheel-drive sporty sedan. This automobile was designed for the international markets from the day it went into construction.

The Stinger Specs

The Kia Stinger will be available in two different engines, each of which boasts sheer power and precision. The first engine is the standard 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a staggering 255 horsepower and 260 lb-per-feet of torque.  The second—high-end—engine is a V-6, 3.3-liter twin-turbo engine. It can produce up to a mind-boggling 365 horsepower assisted by an even astonishing 376 lb-per-feet torque.

Other incredible aspects of the Kia Stinger include the automaker’s eight-speed torque converter with auto-transmission, shift paddles in case you want to gain control with a manual transmission, a limited slip differential, and a lot more.

Interior

Kia Stinger is equally awe-inspiring for its interior as it is for the exquisite engine. You get to enjoy a spacious cabin and an elite layout. A contemporary infotainment system, comfortable seating, sleek panels, and a variety of connectivity features all add up to make the interior one to boast off.

The company is proud to call the Stinger its “highest-performance production vehicle in the company’s history.”

The Future

Schreyer has made it clear that his dream automobile will set the basis of future Kia automobiles, and that every new generation will be better than the previous one.
